Reuben Jeffery III began his career as a corporate lawyer at Davis Polk & Wardwell. He subsequently moved to Goldman Sachs where he spent 18 years in a variety of capacities including as Partner in charge of the European financial institutions group in London and as Managing Partner of Goldman’s Paris office.

Following Goldman, Reuben spent seven years in the US Government in several roles including Special Assistant to the President on the staff of the National Security Council, Chairman of the Commodity Futures Trading Commission and as Under Secretary of State for Economic, Energy and Agricultural Affairs.

In 2010 he joined Rockefeller Financial Services where he was President and Chief Executive Officer until 2018. From 2009-2019 he was a non-executive director of Barclays plc.

Mr Jeffery is currently Chairman of Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation in the Americas and Chairman of Affiliated Managers Group, Inc. In addition, he is a non-executive director of PartnerRe. He is a director of the Financial Services Volunteer Corps and a life member of the Council on Foreign Relations.

With his deep leadership experience and global outlook, Reuben is a key asset to whitegate capital. As chairman of the investment committee, he will provide oversight and strategic direction, ensuring that the team navigates complex investment opportunities with strong governance in place.
